We enjoyed meeting and hearing from Krysta Peterson, Past President of the South Minneapolis Metro Evening (SMME) Club and incoming Assistant Governor (AG) for District 5950 Area 3, which includes Richfield Rotary.  Krysta works for 3M in supply chain management.  She joined Rotary in 2011 when she lived in Wisconsin.  After moving to Minnesota, she became a member of SMME.  Krysta serves on the District 5950 Public Image Committee and handles social media for the District.  As AG, she will hold quarterly meetings and also visit every club, encouraging multi-club collaborations with respect to service projects, fund-raising, and membership recruitment.

Krysta shared Rotary International’s new vision Statement:  "Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change - across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves," and encouraged us to use or adapt materials from RI’s People of Action Campaign toolkit, which includes a variety of PR materials sized for Facebook.  She also recommended that we share our local projects on Rotary Showcase, which is part of RI's website.

Krysta encouraged us to “talk about Rotary” as we network at work or in the community and to take advantage of social media to tell our Rotary story.  Options include Facebook (widest demographic, but fewer younger people), Instagram (younger audience, picture / video focused), and Linked In (articles with a corporate focus).  She also emphasized the need for persistence in following up on referrals, including phone calls if e-mails don’t go through.
