Richfield Rotary Fund-raiser Scheduled for November 14

November 14 - Richfield Rotary Night at Pizza Luce

On

On November 14, Richfield Rotary will receive 10% of the proceeds from meals purchased at Pizza Luce from folks presenting Richfield Rotary flyers.  Proceeds will be used to purchase hats, gloves and mittens for our “Warm Hands, Heads and Hearts” project, which benefits elementary and secondary students in the Richfield Public Schools.

Pizza Luce will supply us with 500 flyers.  Richfield Rotarians are asked to distribute the flyers throughout the metro area, especially those suburbs close in proximity to Richfield.  We'll also need Richfield Rotarians to be present in force that evening, with family members and friends!  Let's fill Pizza Luce on November 14!!

One Rotary Summit Stimulates Sharing

A key purpose of District 5950’s September 23 Summit was to promote idea-sharing among representatives of participating clubs about what works in areas of service, membership, and branding.   Participants were divided into small groups based on club size.  Richfield Rotary attendees were President Chip Groth, Barb Devlin and Jean Fox.

Following are some of the great ideas generated.  More will be published in future issues of the e-Spokester:

Richfield Rotary Embraces "Service Above Self"

VEAP STUDENT HUNGER PROJECT

Chip Groth is soliciting volunteers the VEAP Student Hunger Project, which will resume in September and continue throughout the 2016-2017 School Year.  Volunteers from participating clubs gather for about an hour each Thursday evening to pack food bags for distribution the following day to needy students in the Bloomington, Edina and Richfield Schools.  (The photo at left shows Anthony Bradford, Kristen Nelson and other Hunger Project volunteers from the 2015-2016 school year.)

Thanks to Chip Groth for volunteering to serve as our club's project "Captain" this year, and to John Devlin who served in that capacity for the past two years.  The captain for each participating Rotary Club serves as volunteer coordinator for 5 Thursday evening packing sessions during the year.

Please let Chip know if you are willing to volunteer sometime this year.  Thanks!

Thought for the Week

Rotary is like a stool supported by 4 legs:  The Rotary Foundation (End Polio Now!), Membership, Club Support, and Public Image.  We need every Rotarian on that stool to build vibrant clubs to better serve humanity.
