September 22 Meeting Reminder

Sergeant At Arms:  Anthony Bradford

Thought for the Week:  Tommy Thompson

Program:  Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge and Refuge Friends - May Yang and Steve Sutter

May Yang, Community Outreach Corps member with the U S Fish and Wildlife Service, will tell us about the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, located in Bloomington.  She will be accompanied by Steve Sutter, President of the Refuge Friends, Inc. September 15 Meeting Highlights

Thought for the Week and Happy Dollars
  • David Butler told about being contacted by a friend from Mason City, Iowa, whom he had not seen for over 40 years.  His thought for the week:  "Be nice to other people, and you will build connections for life."
  • Tommy Thompson was happy to be back, after being under the weather for a few weeks; to celebrate, he told an Ole and Lena joke! Pam Serdar was happy to have squeezed a few more days of vacation before beginning fall programming at church.

Program:  Introduction to Nancy Stachel, Principal, Sheridan Hills School

Nancy Stachel, new Principal of Sheridan Hills School, told us about her background in St. Paul, which included principalships of several schools and Chief of Schools for all schools in St. Paul. Nancy retired from St. Paul Schools in July, and is delighted to join Richfield Schools, with former colleague Steve Unowsky as Superintendent.  Nancy remains committed to leadership in an urban setting, but appreciates being in a smaller district where it’s easier and faster to get things done.  She promises that, the next time she speaks, she will have more specifics about her work at Sheridan Hills!

A Fun Time Was Had By All!

Thanks to Chip Groth for organizing a wonderful Past President’s gathering!  The tour of the James J. Hill House was terrific, followed by a delicious lunch at Moscow on the Hill.  Of course, all of this was to thank Anthony for his leadership last year.  Jean Fox took some great photos - enjoy!
