  1. The Richfield Rotary Foundation Board meeting is February 25 @ 5:30 Hollihans Richfield. A table in the atrium has been reserved.
  2. Laura Briggs shared the upcoming launch of the club's March Madness for Polio Plus. This activity will raise money through the entry of brackets for the upcoming college basketball tournament. Please bring your unwanted gift cards to be placed in the prize pool. The number of prizes depends on the number of donated gift cards
  3. Discussion about future club service projects:
  • Steve Larson brought up an example of Medical Matters-volunteer packing of refurbished medical equipment for third world countries.
  • The Richfield Safety Camp has requested support for their summer programing. There was discussion about service activities and supporting services/organizations with financial support. Ideas discussed included
  • cleaning up the Wood Lake Nature Center parking lot
  • raising funds to support a targeted organization rather than supporting several activities with small grants
  • raising funds to support 5th grade band programing in Richfield Schools.
No decisions were made about service projects. The topic will be raised at the foundation meeting on February 25. The specifics are above.

March Madness Fun-Raiser for Polio Plus

The tournament starts on 3/15 and runs through April 4th!

Once you've made your donation, notify Laura Briggs and she will send you the invite to fill out your bracket. If you have trouble filling it out online, let Laura know and she will help!

Teen Job Fair

The Bloomington Daymakers Rotary Club, Richfield Rotary Club, and Bloomington United For Youth are working together on a project to help young people locate employment. Because teens are an important focus for our service organizations, we are sponsoring the 2016 Teen Job Fair. OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE 200-300 TEENS FROM THE BLOOMINGTON, RICHFIELD, AND EDINA AREA ATTEND!

Bloomington, Richfield, and Edina area businesses have been invited to participate, and to consider hiring high school students to fill vacancies for summer and week-end employees.

The job fair is scheduled for:

Tuesday, March 15, 2016

5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Bloomington Civic Plaza    1800 West Old Shakopee Road

The Richfield Rotary Foundation is contributing $200 to support the job fair, and Chip Groth has served as our representative at planning meetings for the job fair.   Chip and Dwight Geisler (Bloomington Daymakers) are requesting that two Richfield Rotarians attend the job fair on March 15, to learn first hand what it entails, as a basis for greater involvement in future planning.  Please contact Chip Groth if you are willing to attend.

At our February 25 meeting, Chip Groth will present additional information about the Teen Job Fair and respond to any questions.

The Four-Way Test of the Things we Think, Say or Do

1.  Is it the truth?

2.  Is it fair to all concerned?
