September 15 Meeting Reminder

Sergeant At Arms:  Tommy Thompson

Thought for the Week:  David Butler

Program:  Nancy Stachel - New Principal at Sheridan Hills Elementary School
In a letter to the Sheridan Hills School community, Superintendent Steven Unowsky wrote, "I am proud and excited to announce the hiring of Nancy Stachel as the new principal of Sheridan Hills.  She is a proven, exceptional school leader with close connections to Richfield."  Prior to coming to Richfield, Nancy served as a principal at several Saint Paul Public elementary schools and as Chief of Schools for all schools.  Nancy will tell us more about her background and experiences in St. Paul and share preliminary plans and priorities as she assumes the principalship at Sheridan Hills Elementary School.

September 8 Meeting Highlights

Happy Dollars

Lots of folks were happy, including:
  • Barb Devlin, whose mother is back in an assisted living setting following a fall and broken bones last summer.
  • Pat Dale, who mused on the "stages of marriage"
  • Kirsten Nelson, whose voice is finally coming back after working 12-hour days at the State Fair.  During her State Fair stint, she met "The Chicken Guy" who sells whole certified organic chickens for $12 each.  Let her know if you want one.  She also shared "before and after" pictures of a patient whose horrible bruise improved considerably after Kirsten's treatment.  Good job, Kirsten!
  • Anthony Bradford announced that he has returned to his former position in assisted living administration.  Best wishes, Anthony.

Club Assembly

A major topic of discussion concerned November Foundation Month, with a possible program concerning The Rotary  International Foundation (TRF) and the Richfield Rotary Foundation.   Related discussion focused on the need for fund-raising, periodic fund drives, and periodic updates regarding the status of contributions.  Chip will contact Lynne Alexander (Foundation Chair) regarding scheduling a Foundation Board meeting to follow up.

Additional discussion concerned various opportunities for service.  Chip followed up with a request for volunteers to help direct traffic and / or staff a shared Rotary / Optimists information table at Penn Fest.  (See details in the Upcoming Events section, below.)

Thought for the Week
