Rotary Club of

President's Letter

Good morning, Richfield Rotarians and friends.  This is a quick update, between issues of the e-Spokester.
  1. Thanks to everyone who attended our first ever virtual Richfield Rotary meeting on April 2, and to Brandt Krueger for serving as host!

    • Special congratulations to Linay McCrady and Cassandra Nickell who are likely the first members of Rotary (outside of virtual clubs) to be inducted into membership virtually!

    • For those who missed the meeting, a pdf of District Governor Russ Michaletz’ “Rotary 101” presentation is attached.

  2. 2nd Announcement – Membership Application from Kelsey Nagel, Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel – The first announcement occurred at our April 2 virtual meeting.  Absent any objections, we’ll induct Kelsey into membership at our next virtual meeting on April 16, which will bring our club to 21 full and shared memberships!

  3. Volunteers needed to finalize our Spanish-English Dictionary and Book Project  - When Richfield Rotary received a local community project grant from Rotary District 5950, we agreed to contribute “sweat equity” to the project in the form of individual Rotary member involvement.  A handful of Rotarians have contributed to date, but we have an opportunity for 6 more Rotarians to become involved.   Here is all that is needed for each volunteer:

    • Pick up 1-2 boxes of Spanish-English dictionaries and books designated for one of the elementary schools.  (Note:  We’re still waiting for the dictionary shipment, but I’m hoping they will come in April!  If the RBCU Richfield branch is still closed to walk-ins due to the coronavirus, the pick-up location may be at my house in Bloomington rather than our designated storage area at RBCU.)

    • Insert Spanish and English donation stickers inside the front cover of the Spanish-English dictionaries.  (Your kids can help you do this – the time required is 15 minutes or less!)

    • Contact the Principal of your assigned school and arrange for a time to drop off the box(es) at the school.

Call or e-mail me if you can help, and let her know if you have a preference among the following elementary schools who will receive the dictionaries and books:  Blessed Trinity, Partnership Academy, Centennial, Richfield Dual Language School, Richfield STEM School, or Sheridan Hills.  Thank you!
