July 2, 2020 Meeting Highlights

Induction of Chuck Standfuss
Chuck is a transfer member from the Rotary Club of St. Paul, where he has been a member since May 15, 2002, most recently serving as Board Secretary.  Chuck and his wife moved to Richfield in 2007 to live near their daughter and grandchildren.  He has served on the Richfield Planning Commission and been active in the Richfield Softball Association.  An attorney, Chuck has had a successful HR consulting career for over 30 years, although his career is currently “on hold” due to the pandemic.  Welcome to Richfield Rotary, Chuck!
Past President Recognition
2020-2021 President John DeBettignies thanked outgoing President Barb Devlin for her service and made a “virtual” presentation of a Past President’s plaque recognizing Barb for her cumulative service as President of the Rotary Club of Villa Park, IL (1994-95) and the Rotary Club of Richfield (2008-09 and 2019-20).
The remainder of the meeting focused on club goals for 2020-2021 and a plan for resuming in-person meetings.    Members will receive a survey via Survey Monkey to provide additional input and suggestions.

Invitation to Join District 5950 Environmental Action Team

Supporting the Environment has been named the 7th Area of Focus for Rotary, and District Governor Tom Gump has appointed Steve Solbrack of the Twin Cities Rotary EcoClub to serve as the District 5950 Environmental Sustainability Chair for 2020-21.
Steve would like to form a District Environmental Sustainability (ES) Action Team, and invites interested Rotarians to participate.
More details about the ES Action Team and an invitation to the first Zoom meeting follow, along with links to additional RI resources relating to the environment.
In Memoriam:  Former Richfield Rotarian Jodi Larson

Jodi was a member of Richfield Rotary from 2011-2014, during her tenure as Director of the Richfield Historical Society, and provided several interesting presentations to the club on RHS and Richfield history.  In recent years, Jodi has resided in Houston TX with her husband, Ziad Qureshi.  Just 44 years of age, she died of a heart ailment.
Our sympathies are extended to Jodi’s husband and extended family.
